Helsinki

We will therefore start with the 2 bus from Turku, and were then about noon in the Finnish capital Helsinki. Finland has two official languages: Finnish and Swedish. This means that many Signs are bilingual, even the street signs. Also at the stores is sometimes in both languages, the name, because Finnish has almost no resemblance to the Swedish. Neither the German or English. So you can guess as anything. Finnish is supposed to be with his 16 different cases, one of the most difficult languages in the world. In the written language, I noticed that happen very often double letters, mainly for vowels, which looks very strange for us.
Finland until the beginning of the 19th Centuries under Swedish rule. By the Swedish-Russian war, the Swedes lost, it was handed over to Russia. Since 1917, it is now independent.
We went to the center to the Senate Square (photo 1). There stands the Cathedral of Helsinki, the old Senate building, the main building of the University of Helsinki and in the middle of the square is a statue of Russian Czar Alexander I..
got here then our tour guide. We made a long sightseeing tour by bus. Was quite interesting. At some points we made then a short stop for a few photos. For example, we were in the Temppeliaukio Church. This is a modern church that was in a granite rocks purely built. Reminds more of a bunker from the outside (Photo 2), but if you Once inside, you notice the great acoustics and a pleasant atmosphere (photo 3). Moreover
We drove past the residence of the President of Finland, the parliament building and many other interesting sights.
After the sightseeing tour we were allowed to check into the hotel and went immediately to explore the socks Helsinki alone yet. We walked from the Parliament building's main train station. From there, the cathedral and then to Uspensky Cathedral (photo 4). This is apparently the largest Orthodox church in Scandinavia.
We then went to the port facility back to the hotel as it was already dusk. After we rested a bit, we went out at night a little and ended up in a Mexican restaurant.
The next day we went directly after breakfast go towards St. Petersburg.
(To be continued ...)
